@ranginui Anyone who can say they created LibraryThing is allowed quite a bit of ego in my book! ;-)

Will services like #spotify make music in libraries obsolete?

via Echofon

Thinking about how services like #spotify will change our relationship with music, the mind boggles…

Miss iTunes’ “Times played” in #spotify. Am I missing something?

@mskogly Det hjelper hvis man bestiller flere eksemplarer samtidig, men jo… Finnes jo en del alternativer - del gjerne erfaringer!

Use the magical paper remover, @Miromurr! ;-)

Tried to check out Yahoo! Pipes during a quiet spell at the front desk, but the version of MSIE was too old, and we can’t install software.

via web

@Miromurr They mention Open Source in ch. 6.5, but I can’t see any *discussion* of it. And the conclusion is all about “proprietary”…

Why should I have lots of idle computing power under my desk, when I can hire what I need from the cloud, when I need it?

via web

Nice thought, @ranginui. Here in Norway we have only got a small handfull of libraries that could do that, I think…

How about something like this, only with the book covers in your library catalogue? http://labs.ideeinc.com/…

“The Europeana site is temporarily not accessible due to overwhelming interest after its launch.” http://www.europeana.eu/

@ranginui Ideally, but hardly realistic in libraries with 0.5 or 1 or 2 librarians, I think?

via web in reply to ranginui

Suggestion for #libpunk anthem: “Declare independence” by Björk, off the album “Volta”.

via web

@ranginui Sure, that’s another big advantage. But a lot of smaller libraries can’t, because they lack the resources (time, knowledge…)

via web in reply to ranginui

One advantage of Koha and other open source ILSs: You can change your vendor without changing your ILS. And take ALL your data with you.
